Smitten Kitchen has amazing recipes, and usually never fails... but I definitely screwed up this pear and almond tart:

The almond base came out almost like a custard. That's not the correct consistency for a tart, right...?

I sampled that recipe and agree it was more custard, less almond paste, and even less marzipan. 

well likely not the recipe's fault... i did something wrong.

maybe i blended the almond paste too much? actually i think i added a little too much butter, also.
